Seriously. Don’t hesitate. You need this in your life!
I could go on for hours about how amazing this product is. (And I do in this review.) I don’t know how my family would be able to navigate through this pandemic without it. We use it every single day for an ever-growing list of things.
This is the BOOYAH Must Have
of all BOOYAH Must Haves!
How we use it
Here is a list of just some of the ways we use FON (Force of Nature) or, as I like to call it, Magic Spray. Sit back and relax. This is going to be a long list.
CLEANING
I use FON to clean nearly every surface of my home and beyond.
Also… I have mentioned before that my son loves to clean. He has been grabbing cleaning cloths, napkins, paper towels, socks (lol) any kind of small cloth-like item and using it to “clean” since before he could walk. He also likes to snatch-and-grab (one of his toddler super powers) the FON bottle and start spraying it. If it were any other cleaner, I would be freaking out if he did that. But I have no worries with FON. He’s safe.
• KITCHEN SURFACES – All surfaces. No rinsing needed.
• KITCHEN APPLIANCES – I use it to safely clean all interior and exterior surfaces of the refrigerator and freezer. I use it to clean the oven’s interior and the glass top. (I don’t own a microwave, but I’m certain it would be a wonderful cleaner for that too!)
• BATHROOM SURFACES – All surfaces, even mirrors!
• PATIO FURNITURE – Tables, Chairs, Cushions. FON removed a stubborn stain from one of my patio chair cushions that I had totally given up on. I generously sprayed it on, let it soak in, and dry overnight. The next morning, the stain was gone!
• FLOORS
• WALLS
• RUGS – (see STAINS)
• PET AREAS – Bedding, bowls, toys.
• PET ACCIDENTS
• FABRICS – All color fast fabrics. Clothes, Bibs, Purse/Bag/Backpacks, Furniture, Curtains, etc.
• STUFFED ANIMALS
• STRAW CUPS/SIPPY CUPS
• PACIFIERS
• TOYS
• CAR SEAT
• STROLLER
• HIGH CHAIR – I am certain that my son is the messiest eater ever. His high chair takes a beating. I use FON on the entire chair. The fabric is black and has never faded or shown any discoloration from the extensive FON soaking and scrubbing that it receives. I also clean the table with FON while my son is still seated. If he touches the FON, it’s fine! I even spray some on a separate cloth to wipe his hands and face clean. YES! I use FON to clean my son.
• MY SON – I guess I’ll put this next because I just mentioned it. But I do use FON to wet cloths to wipe his messy, sticky hands and face.
• HANDS – Not only do I use it on my hands as a disinfectant, but I also sometimes use FON to clean and deodorize my hands. Especially after handling my turtles or cleaning their filter equipment. The turtle stench is real! And FON helps eliminate it like nothing else can. It has no skin allergens or irritants so you don’t even need to rinse it off.
• STAINS – The way FON attacks stains is, in my opinion… magical. It removed old, set-in, red wine stains from my white area rug! What?!! Nothing else would even touch those stains. Not even a stain remover made specifically for red wine. I also use it to clean stains on my son’s clothes – get this – while he is wearing the clothes. So he misses his mouth and drips something on his shirt (or my clothes). No problem. I just spray some FON directly on the stain, rub or dab it with a microfiber cloth, let it dry, and the stain disappears. No need to change his outfit a million times a day. This saves on laundry.
Another amazing thing FON does is brighten whites. It doesn’t bleach out color safe fabrics, but it does brighten and whiten white fabrics! I specifically find this useful when my son’s pacifier clip fabrics and cords get dingy. I handwash them in the sink with dish soap, then soak them down with FON, let them dry, and they whiten up like new. It acts like bleach, but doesn’t leave bleach stains!
DISINFECTION
This is where FON shines its brightest during the pandemic.
• GROCERIES – We use it to spray down all our groceries before they enter our house. If you are interested in my specific disinfection routine, I will be creating a post about it soon. So keep on the lookout.
• HANDS – We use it like hand sanitizer. (We double up and use this alongside alcohol based sanitizers.)
• FACE MASKS – We spray it on our cloth masks after we remove them when entering our car.
• PUBLIC SURFACES – Even before the pandemic, I would carry around a travel size sprayer filled with FON to spray down restroom changing tables or any other surface my baby might come in contact with.
• HOME SURFACES – I feel like all of my home’s surfaces have been spayed with FON at one time or another.
• DOOR HANDLES – At home, public spaces, and the car.
• BABY ITEMS – Pacifiers, toys, surfaces that baby touches, etc. No rinsing needed! It makes things taste a bit salty, that’s all.
• TODDLER ITEMS – Perfect to clean and spray down the toddler potty, bath toys, and all surfaces of a toddler bathroom with no concern of toxic chemicals. Great to clean up eating areas and those mysterious sticky stains that appear all over the house.
• TOOTHBRUSHES – We have a UV sanitizer now, but before that I would routinely spray our toothbrushes down. I still give them a spritz every now and then.
DEODORIZER
• TRASH CAN
• DIAPER PAIL
• HANDS
• PET AREAS
• SHOES
• CLOTHES
• FABRICS
UNEXPECTED USES
A household cleaner and disinfectant that can be used for the things in this list?! Yeah, that’s why it’s Magical.
• WOUND CARE – I use FON to clean any cuts or scrapes.
• EYE CARE – Just before my son was born, I got a horrible sty in my eye from a tube of mascara. (I should have read the negative reviews more carefully because I wasn’t the only one who suffered from this brand’s obviously unhygienic product.) I wish I would have had known about FON then! It would have saved me from having a sty in my birthing photos. Now that I am familiar with what a sty feels like, if I ever get that feeling like something is off with my eyes, I just wet a cotton round with FON, close my eyes, and gentle wipe my eyes. I use it as a preventative measure now.
My son likes to stick his fingers in his eyes for some reason, and at one point it looked like he was getting some sort of eye infection. It was a weekend and I had to wait to Monday to get a doctor appt. so I just wiped his eye with FON like I do mine. I did it a few times that day and by the next morning, there was no more goop forming in his eye. It had cleared up and I didn’t need to make an appointment.
•PETS – Not only is FON great for pet messes, but I also use it on my dogs for a quick, waterless bath. Especially when they come in from being outside and have found something deliciously dirty to rub their face on. It helps deodorize them too. I just spray FON on a cloth and then wipe their fur. No rinsing needed.
• SELF-CARE ITEMS – I use FON to clean several of the items in our self-care routines. I spritz it on razor blades, toothbrushes, and bath poufs. I use it to clean make-up brushes.
What doesn’t it do?
There is only ONE thing that I have have found that FON does not do. It cleans mold & fungus as effectively as bleach & helps to prevent it from returning, but it doesn’t remove set in stains on porous surfaces like grout or caulking. This is because it doesn’t contain any whiteners (like bleach). Although, I have found it to whiten white fabrics.
One thing it doesn’t do against hundreds of things it can do. That’s fine by me.
HOW TO USE FON
I have an older model, but it works the same.
The starter kit consists of the electrolyzer appliance, power cord, 12 oz. reusable spray bottle, activator capsules, quick start guide, and user manual. All you need to repurchase in the future are the activator capsules that contain a solution of salt and vinegar. They run around $1.00 per capsule. They capsules are recyclable.
Fill the electrolyzer container with water to the fill line. (I use distilled water.) Empty an activator capsule into the water-filled container. Press the start button. Wait for the counter to count down to zero and display, “End.” Pour the solution into your spray bottle. Your FON is ready to use!
The strength and effectiveness of FON will degrade over time and it is recommended to use within 14 days. I have never had to worry about using it within that time limit because I have never had a bottle sit around that long. With heavy use, I can easily go through a bottle in one day. With our family’s normal use, it will last about a week. The wonderful part is you can make a new bottle as soon as you need it.
It has a clean scent that smells like a swimming pool. The scent is from the active ingredient, hypochlorous acid.
CONTAINERS
FON starter kits come with a spray bottle, but I often purchase additional spray bottles to fill.
Push Down Pump Dispensers are a great way to evenly distribute FON onto cotton rounds to cleanse skin and wounds.
I also like to fill up a small spray bottle to take with us on the go. They are handy to have when you want to quickly disinfect public spaces like changing tables, door handles, dining tables, etc.
THE SCIENCE
FON uses electricity to change the chemical structure of salt, water & vinegar into a cleaner & disinfectant that is as effective as bleach.
Salt, water and vinegar are converted to electrolyzed water when an electrical current changes the chemical composition of the solution into two new ingredients:
Ingredients:
Electrolyzed Water: Has no harmful ingredients, residues or fumes and contains just two gentle, yet potent ingredients:
• Hypochlorous Acid: DIsinfectant that’s as effective as bleach. Hypochlorous acid is the same substance your white blood cells produce to fight infection, and it’s commonly the active ingredient in wound, eye and veterinary care products because it’s so gentle and effective. Hypochlorous acid is gentle enough to spray on the surfaces children come into contact with.
• Sodium Hydroxide: Detergent & grease-cutter without suds. Contains just 0.0000003% yet cleans as well as major brands that have up to 5%.
