my experience
For the first few months of his life, my son had very sensitive skin. Although he never had cradle cap, he did suffer from other skin irritations. Several of the baby washes that we tried would cause rashes and dry skin.
Although we are no longer desperately searching for a super gentle body wash for our newborn, I am always excited to try new products and jumped at the opportunity to test out this MADE OF Baby Shampoo and Body Wash.
Now that my little one is a toddler and his skin is able to handle a wider variety of soaps, I do prefer scented soaps over the fragrance-free ones. There is something so soothing and comforting about scents in the bath. So, I was apprehensive about using this one because it is fragrance-free. But, it does have a subtle scent that is fresh and clean. I actually really like the way it smells!
How does it work?
The wash comes in an easy to use foaming dispenser bottle (with a purple top, my favorite color!) It dispenses as a sudsy white foam that keeps it’s bubbly lather as you wash your baby’s skin. My son saw all the bubbles and quickly proclaimed “bubbles!” So it was an instant hit with him.
This is the first foaming wash that I have used and it does make bath time easier. Just pump and wash. I don’t have to sit and suds up the wash cloth like I normally do with other soaps. The wash easily rinses clean and leaves skin feeling fresh and residue free with a subtle clean smell.
My son has mixed race hair, so it can be a bit difficult to work with at times and most shampoos make it dry and frizzy. But this wash surprised me! As his hair dried, it actually defined his curls. I wish they made a conditioner, I bet it would be wonderful!
I do wish this formula was tear free, but this is not a pivotal feature for me now because my son is a toddler. It may have been an issue when he was a newborn and I was not a confident baby bather. (We have another wash that we love, Shea Moisture, that is not tear free either.)
I like to keep a few soap choices on hand, just to switch up scents and make the bath time routine different and exciting.
– Yes, I said exciting. I’m a full-time mom of a toddler during a pandemic. I’ll take excitement wherever I can.
This brand has definitely earned a coveted spot in the Booyah Mom household’s soap rotation.

UPDATEs

I still love this wash. My son has now started to try to wash himself during bathtime and he enjoys using this foam so much more than the normal goopy soap.
The foam makes this process helpful. I just dispense some foam on his wash cloth. I tell him, “Wash your elbow.” He washes his elbow. “Wash your knee.” He washes his knee. The instant foam makes it easy for him to see where he has washed. MOM HACK: This is also a great way to practice naming body parts.

We are still using this foaming soap. But my son is no longer receiving sitting shower-baths like he used to. He is now sitting in a bathtub of water. This soap foams and lathers well in a shower situation, but the bubbles quickly dissipate when introduced to a tub of standing water.
