my EXPERIENCE

As a brand new mom, I had no idea what kind of diapers to buy to prepare for my son’s arrival. Before he was born, I received a few boxes of diapers at my baby shower, scored several packages of sample diapers, and purchased a few boxes. My main concerns were bleached cotton, toxic dyes and inks, and any other kind of harsh chemical or unsafe material that would be in constant contact with the most sensitive parts of my baby.

My first choice in diapering was to cloth diaper, but as a brand new mom I was overwhelmed by Every. Single. Thing. Disposable diapers were what worked best for us. My first choice in disposables were Pamper’s Pure. I also tried Seventh Generation, Mama Bear, aden + anais, Kirkland, and a few other name brands. Then after 4 months of diaper trial and errors, I found Earth + Eden diapers.

I have not purchased another brand of diaper since. (Other than one time when I was in a rush to prepare for a hurricane and I had to buy whatever was on the Target shelf. I got Seventh Generation.)

My Recommendation

a little backstory

Before I got pregnant, the last time I had diapered a baby (my nieces), diapers were these noisy, plastic things that ripped easily.

And, Yes! I AM dating myself. I’m a 40 year old first time mom after all!

When I first experienced the new, innovative diapers of today, the wetness indicator and the fasteners are what amazed me the most. Back then, there were no blue lines to indicate a pee pee diaper, and the old diapers would rip if you tried to unfasten them. Think duct tape applied to a layer of crappy (pun intended) plastic bag. My memories of checking to see if a diaper was wet or soiled include:
• peeking in through a leg hole.
• sniffing.
• sticking a finger in. (the yummiest way)
Are you still doing any of these?
I might be guilty of a few sniffs or leg hole peeks.

Diapers have come a long way, and I am definitely grateful for the technological advancements in diaper design.

My best friend’s daughter is seven months older than my son. So I got to practice and refresh my memory on how to diaper a baby before my son arrived. I picked it up pretty quick. Sadly, putting on a diaper was probably one of the only things I was prepared for.

Why I love earth + eden diapers

First of all, Earth + Eden diapers meet and exceed all of my wants in a disposable diaper.

They do not contain any harsh chemicals or toxic dyes, no parabens, no chlorine bleaching, and are hypoallergenic. They are also Cruelty-Free!

They are thin, soft, breathable, and comfortable. To me, they are so soft that they feel like cloth diapers. They are gentle on my baby’s skin and have never caused any sort of irritation. They are very absorbent and keep my baby’s skin dry.

I have never experienced a blowout (aka poop explosion) with this brand. I have only dealt with about a handful of leaking incidents in the 14+ months I have been using them and that was due to user error (needing to size up) or an excessive amount of pee, usually while sitting on his car seat for extended periods of time and not alerting us, as he does, that he had wet his diaper.

They are also affordable in comparison to some other high quality diapers.

And they fold up and seal nicely for disposal. Oddly enough, some diapers I tried would not do this.
